Volunteering Days: Giving Time to Good Causes

Published on

As a business, we believe it is our responsibility to be generous. We are passionate about making a positive impact in the community and love encouraging our people to do the same. We were therefore delighted to launch our Volunteering Days in October 2022 to allow colleagues to take a full paid day each year to spend more time making a difference to the causes that matter to them.

Many colleagues have since taken up the scheme and used this benefit in a brilliant variety of ways. Solution Architect Jo spent the day with a charity that means a lot to her, Pigs in the Wood, a non-profit sanctuary for pigs and other animals rescued from the farming industry that may have been abused or mistreated, allowing them to roam free and live naturally in ten acres of woodland. Jo commented: “It was a real pleasure to spend the day volunteering at Pigs in the Wood, a charity and animal sanctuary that is so close to my heart. Thank you to The Config Team for allowing this to happen!”

Senior Project Manager Kim spent her day supporting individuals in her local community who may be struggling with the technology that is essential to their daily lives via AbilityNet. Kim commented: “A big thank you to The Config Team for the Volunteering Day which allowed me to give more time to the support desk for AbilityNet. I enjoyed being able to help, and the craic over a cup of tea was great fun!”

Technical Team Lead Brett used his volunteering day as part of the six days he spent working with the Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary in South Africa which rescues, rehabilitates, rewilds, releases and protects Rhinos and other animals. Brett commented: “Thank you to Carolyn and Andrew for giving everyone at The Config Team the opportunity to have a Volunteering Day. The work that the staff do at Care for Wild is truly amazing and humbling and I’m so glad I got to be part of it.”

We can’t wait to see how colleagues continue to use this benefit in the coming months. Click here for more information on some of our other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) related initiatives and to read our 2022 CSR report.
