Five Years with The Config Team

This month we are delighted to celebrate the five-year anniversary of two integral members of our team, senior functional consultant, Kyle Guthrie, and technical architect, Gregor Brett.

Joining The Config Team in January 2018 when we were only a team of 35 people, Kyle and Gregor have seen us grow to a team of over 160 colleagues. Growing right alongside us, they have been key players in some of our biggest projects, and have both progressed through the business, now leading their own teams in consulting and product respectively.

Reflecting on the last five years, Kyle said “I first heard about The Config Team when a colleague of mine in the food and beverage industry left the business to join them, and I knew then that I had to see what all the fuss was about. All the good things I heard turned out to be true. My favourite thing about working at The Config Team is that it really does still feel like a small family business, even though it has grown a lot since I joined.

Right from the beginning of my time here I felt like part of the team. My first day was the company’s annual conference where I got to meet everyone, then by the second day I was jetting off to Holland on a customer project. The momentum has just continued from there, one of my highlights has to be flying to China and Singapore on Emirates first class!

My SAP end user experience has come in very useful in the projects I have been involved with, and it’s been great to see my input benefiting the wider team. There are plenty of growth opportunities at The Config Team, I’ve picked up so many skills as a functional consultant, and since been promoted to senior functional consultant and a team lead.”

Speaking about his time with us, Gregor said “After working at another consultancy that got taken over by a larger firm, I really value being part of a smaller business like The Config Team. What’s been great is seeing how it has grown since I first joined, while keeping that small business feel I was looking for. I really appreciate how easily accessible and reachable everyone is. Nobody is off limits to message at any time, and fresh ideas are always really welcomed.

One of my favourite things about The Config Team is how much effort Andrew and Carolyn make to look after their people, and I really enjoy the events we have through the year like the Christmas party and annual conference to catch up with everyone.

I’ve had lots of opportunities to develop my career here. From technical consultant I was promoted to technical architect. I also joined the product team when it was first formed, which is a very exciting area of the business to be involved with, giving me the opportunity to work across different technologies and get involved with innovations like augmented reality and scanning. I love seeing our customers go live with our solutions and knowing the part I played in that. More recently I’ve become a team leader within product, which I really enjoy. It’s great to be able to help my team grow their careers in the same way I had the opportunity to do.”

Commenting on these milestone anniversaries, our managing director, Andrew Moses, said “Gregor and Kyle are amazing colleagues, and we are so lucky to have them. Our team, and our customers, love working with them, and they have been integral to the success of some of our biggest projects and developing some key innovations. It has been wonderful to see how both Kyle and Gregor’s careers have progressed over the last five years, and I can’t wait to see where the next five years take them!”
