The Media Buzz Around UKISUG Connect 2024
This year’s UKISUG Connect has been a huge success. Our previous blogs have looked at the UKISUG/SAP and customer keynotes, so we thought we’d finish the series looking at some of the media coverage surrounding the event.
Prior to the event kicking off, UKISUG Chair Conor Riordan spoke to Jon Reed from diginomica to preview Connect and share his take on the hottest SAP topics facing members. In the discussion, Conor highlighted how the future of SAP innovation isn’t a tech or business project, but rather a combination of both. You can read the full discussion here.
During Connect, Conor spoke with Computer Weekly’s Managing Editor, Cliff Saran, who published their discussion as a podcast – which you can listen to here. Conor and Cliff debate how organisations can justify an ECC upgrade and what this process should look like with the ECC support deadline coming up in 2027. Cliff also wrote up a summary of the Connect keynotes and a blog following up on some of the themes of his podcast discussion with Conor.
Derek du Preez from diginomica also wrote up a several articles from the event. The first, based on a discussion with Conor Riordan, highlighted the potential skills crises as we inch closer to the ECC maintenance deadline. Meanwhile, Derek’s second article looked at First Rail’s S/4HANA implementation. The article is well worth a read if you’re considering a move to S/4HANA and are looking to adopt SAP’s Clean Core principles – you can access it here.
Finally, the subject of S/4HANA upgrades was also discussed in an article on The Register following an interview with Conor. During the discussion, Conor highlighted how S/4HANA adoption is accelerating, but for some organisations their SAP upgrade path to the cloud and RISE may require a multi-stage approach.
Lastly, we’d be remiss not to highlight our own SUGTalks podcast that we recorded at Connect with Gerren Mayne, host of SAPCHAT, and Cliff Saran from Computer Weekly as guests. The episode was recorded directly following the Connect keynotes and saw Craig, Gerren and Cliff discuss their initial reactions to what was covered in the sessions. You can listen to this episode here.
